Mermaid On the Rocks

  1. MERMAID ON THE ROCKS - An acrylic painting on a 22 x 28 size canvas board. It was a Spare time painting circa 1995.

Mermaids: In 2012 the U.S. National Ocean Service stated that no evidence of Mermaids has ever been found.

And yet, these legendary creatures that have the body of a woman from the waist up, and a fish-tail from the waist down have appeared in the folklore of many cultures all over the world.

In 1493 Christopher Columbus reported seeing mermaids while exploring the Carribean.

The latest Mermaid sighting happened in 2009, in Israel, on a beach near the town of Kiryat Yam. It seems that Shlomo Cohen and a few friends were walking along the beach when suddenly they saw a woman laying on the sand. At first they thought it was just another sunbather, but when they approached her she jumped into the water and disappeared. They were all in shock when they saw that she had a tail like a fish.

    - Ghosts, flying Saucers, Mermaids, What do these three have in common?

"Imagination" can be so powerful, it can over-rule "common sense" and make you believe in nonsense. Whenever I am challenged to consider what the word, "possibility" means, I am left unable to absolutely deny all those weird sightings. But what I am able to state is that no "sighters" have ever shown any "evidence" of their sightings, so I am forced to conclude, at least for now, that all the sightings are imaginary, not real.
